WinG can offer canoeing and/or kayaking sessions run by our very own highly qualified and experienced BCU (British Canoe Union) coaches. Both disciplines require excellent communication skills and once mastered are very rewarding.
We run taster sessions right through to an accredited NGB Award such as the BCU Junior Paddlepower Awards or the BCU Star Awards. For those wanting to progress even further in the world of paddle sports we can also offer BCU Foundation Safety and Rescue Training and can arrange BCU Level 1 Coach Courses.
As with all WinG programmes paddling skills are only the beginning of what you could achieve from our canoeing and kayaking courses. Programmes can be tailored specifically to your needs to achieve outcomes such as improved self-esteem, better communication skills, more positive relationships or the confidence to take more responsibility.
Our programmes can be based locally in the beautifully scenic North East at venues on the Rivers Derwent or Tyne. Alternatively they could be based partly or wholly in any location in the UK. This adds an extra element to the programme which will bring out the very best of the individuals involved.
A typical short programme would include 4 progressive skills sessions followed by an exciting weekend away paddling a river/lake journey. Successful completion of a programme such as this would result in participants achieving a BCU Star Personal Competence Award.
WinG have the staff that can offer canoeing and kayaking as part of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Paddlesport can be used for the ‘skills’ section of that award.
